Forward Kenyon Martin of the Denver Nuggets may actually be back on the basketball court during a game soon as he was given good news by doctors on Monday when an MRI on his surgically repaired knee found only slight bruising. The Nuggets will play Martin’s situation by ear, as reported by The Associated Press: Martin is listed as doubtful for Tuesday night's game against the Indiana Pacers and will be day-to-day after that. The Nuggets could ill afford to have Martin out for an extended period. Forward Nene is out for several more weeks with a thumb injury and coach George Karl already has been forced to use creative lineups to make up for a rash of injuries at guard. Martin, who has missed 106 games the last two seasons because of microfracture surgeries on both knees, was hurt Saturday night against the Houston Rockets and sat out the second half. Much was made when he went from the New Jersey Nets to Denver, but he has barely played since he has been at the Mile High City. If he and the other Nuggets are able to stay healthy throughout the season, they could be a force to be reconned with in the Western Conference.
