TNT announced today that it scored big with its 2007-08 NBA regular season coverage delivering double-digit growth in ratings, households and key demos. For the 52 games the network yielded a 1.1 US rating, a 13% increase over the prior season, as well as a 14% increase in households (1,211,000 vs. 1,061,000). Additionally, TNT experienced major growth across all key demos, yielding increases of 25% or higher across audiences including A18-34, A18-49, A25-54, M18-34, M18-49 and M25-54.
“This NBA season has been intensified by compelling trades, competitions and storylines and we’re thrilled that fans have been tuning in to TNT each week to watch the action,†said David Levy, president of Turner Sports. “The incredible play and strength of the Western Conference will help fuel this year’s playoffs and we’re looking forward showcasing 40 games in 40 nights of intense match-ups from across the league, concluding with our exclusive coverage of the Western Conference Finals.â€
TNT’s NBA Playoffs coverage tips off on Sunday, April 20th and includes home market exclusivity for its conference semifinals coverage and exclusive coverage of the Western Conference Finals.
Key ratings highlights include:
- Key demo growth: +29% in A18-34, +25% in A18-49, +26% in A25-54, +37% M18-34, +29% M18-49, +26% M25-54.
- Increase in viewers P2+: P2+ viewership increased 12% (1,473,000).
- Highest-rated regular season game: The Boston/Houston match-up on March 18 yielded a 1.6 US rating, ranking as TNT’s highest-rated game of the season.
