Charles Barkley will be returning to “Inside the NBA” on TNT following the NBA All-Star Game, according to a report in today’s SportsBusiness Journal, although an exact date has not been selected. As reported by the SBJ, “The decision ends rumors that TNT would bring Barkley back for the coming weekend’s All-Star Game telecasts. Rather, Turner Sports President David Levy said he would make a decision ‘right after the All-Star Game.’” “He is going to continue to remain on a leave of absence through the All-Star Game. He will not be part of our All-Star Weekend festivities,” Levy said. Barkley has been on leave of absence from TNT since he was arrested for drunk driving on Dec. 31st in Scottsdale, AZ. A police report showed that Barkley had a blood-alcohol content of .149, well over the legal limit of .08 in Arizona. TNT’s first broadcast after the All-Star Game is a Feb. 19th double-header featuring San Antonio-Detroit and Boston-Utah. It is unknown whether Barkley will be part of the “Inside the NBA” broadcast at that time, or whether he will address his DUI or leave absence once back with TNT on the air.
